Brian Barnes
- Barnesy, broadcast engineer since 1979,
- video producer since 1995
- and Yorkshireman since 1961!
- He can’t make up his mind and is very close to his money,

Brian’s career started as a technical assistant, training and qualifying with the BBC as a Broadcast Engineer, he consolidated skills at Granada TV working on programmes such as Coronation Street, The Krypton Factor and in News as an Editor, Sound Recordist and ENG Co-ordinator, he left to run Squid Broadcast Facilities a small provider of broadcast crew.
He then set up Activideo Post Production using one of the first SVHS tape edit suites! and in parallel freelanced as sound recordist, editor, vision controller, slow motion operator and was head hunted for a spell as Head of Technical Operations at Lime Pictures (was Mersey TV).
He is owner of Sublime Pictures a boutique post house and as MD of Activideo Communications a corporate video production company he works as Producer/Director operationally but can turn his hand to most jobs including cameraman.

Brian is a trainer in the media industry having run courses on dynamic range management for DOPs, Technical rigging for camera assistants, DV camera operations for entry level students.
He is interested in all elements of video production and enjoys keeping abreast of quickly advancing technology. He has seen change from tubes to sensors, 2inch tape to RAM, lamps to LEDs, whatever next? exciting init?
